A permanent resident or Canadian citizen can do a sponsorship for family members. In order to be a sponsor, the immigration law and regulations provide numerous procedures to follow. For example, the sponsor must meet certain conditions- be over 18, reside in Canada and have sufficient income.

An undertaking must be signed by the sponsor, in which he guarantees to provide for the needs of the sponsored family members.
